Apply now: The Launch of AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme

Updated: Mar 15

In a world where food security and sustainability are increasingly critical, innovative solutions are needed now more than ever. The AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme facilitated by Oribi, is stepping up to the plate, offering a platform for food entrepreneurs in Cape town to make a difference in their communities. With the official launch of the programme, we're thrilled to invite passionate individuals who are ready to reimagine food systems and drive positive change to join the incubation programme.

At its core, AfriFOODlinks envisions a future where cities in Africa and beyond prioritize food systems and nutrition on the local governance agenda. We believe in empowering citizens and fostering multi-stakeholder collaborations to inform policies and urban planning processes that promote food security, environmental sustainability, and equitable access to nutritious food.

What sets AfriFOODlinks apart is its holistic approach to incubating food businesses that align with our core values of rethink, regenerate, reduce, reuse, and recover. We're not just looking for entrepreneurs with innovative product ideas; we're seeking those who are committed to environmentally friendly practices, regenerative agriculture, zero-waste manufacturing, resource reuse, and waste recovery.

Through the AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme, selected entrepreneurs will gain access to a support system and network designed to help them thrive. This includes mentorship from industry experts, coaching sessions to address specific challenges, networking opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations, and grant funding to scale their social enterprises.

“We would like to ensure the inclusion of women and youth entrepreneurs from marginalised and under-resourced areas in Cape Town,” says Tasneem Jhetam. “From past incubation programmes, we have mentored many entrepreneurs who went on to start and run incredibly successful social ventures in the agri-food sector. Our partnership with AfriFOODlinks will offer the opportunity for our social entrepreneurs to receive mentorship and one-on-one coaching from leading industry experts. They will also join a wide network of other food system entrepreneurs across the African continent.”

One of the key pillars of the programme is collaboration. We believe that by bringing together diverse voices and expertise, we can catalyze meaningful change in food systems across Africa. Whether you're a farmer, a food processor, a distributor, or an innovator working on sustainable packaging solutions, there's a place for you in the AfriFOODlinks community!

The launch of the AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to build a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food future for Africa and beyond. We're excited to see the transformative ideas and ventures that emerge from this initiative and the positive impact they will have on communities across the continent.

If you're a food entrepreneur based in Cape Town and you're passionate about creating change and ready to take your business to the next level, we invite you to apply for the AfriFOODlinks Incubation Programme today. Together, we can redefine the future of food in Africa and build a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.
